Sainik Samaj Party Unveils Ambitious Election Manifesto: Focuses on Key Reforms and Development

Jammu, 28-08-2024: In a move to redefine its political stance and address pressing regional issues, the Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh (JKUT) has unveiled its comprehensive election manifesto. This announcement follows a detailed deliberation within the party’s core group, spearheaded by Colonel SS Pathania, the Chief Convenor and President of SSP. Pathania articulated a clear and decisive stance against the prevalent practices of reservations and the distribution of freebies, which he argues undermine the fundamental principles of the nation and need to be halted promptly.

Pathania’s critique extends to the broader political landscape, where he accused other parties of presenting lengthy and often misleading manifestos. He argues that these documents are designed primarily to manipulate public perception and secure votes rather than delivering substantive and actionable plans. In contrast, the SSP’s manifesto is designed to be both practical and actionable, outlining 13 specific and achievable goals aimed at addressing key challenges and fostering regional development:

    1. Establishment of a Separate Jammu State/UT: The SSP advocates for the creation of a separate administrative and political entity for Jammu. This move is aimed at addressing local governance issues more effectively and catering to the unique needs of the region.
    2. Protection of Land, Art, Culture, and Job Creation: The manifesto stresses the importance of preserving local resources, art, and culture. It also includes a commitment to increasing job opportunities for local youth in both the government and private sectors, ensuring that the economic benefits of development are shared equitably.
    3. Tourism Development: Emphasizing the potential of Jammu’s diverse tourism offerings, the SSP proposes a focused development strategy for religious, rural, and border area tourism. This initiative aims to boost the region’s economic growth by attracting tourists and creating related business opportunities.
    4. Deportation of Illegal Immigrants: The party calls for the expedited removal of illegal immigrants, specifically Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals, to address security concerns and manage social issues effectively.
    5. Introduction of the Old Pension Scheme: In a bid to enhance financial security for retirees, the SSP proposes reviving the old pension system. This measure is intended to provide stable and reliable financial support to those who have served in public service roles.
    6. 33% Reservation for Women: The manifesto includes a commitment to implementing a 33% reservation for women in Panchayat, District Development Council (DDC), and Assembly elections. This initiative aims to promote greater female participation in governance and decision-making processes.
    7. 24/7 HD Satellite Channel: The SSP plans to launch a dedicated Duggar Channel in Jammu. This 24/7 HD satellite channel will focus on regional news and issues, providing comprehensive media coverage and enhancing local communication.
    8. Appointment of Military Leadership as Lt Governor: The party proposes the appointment of a General or Lt General as Lieutenant Governor, supported by two military advisors. This strategy is designed to address and combat terrorism and narcotic threats more effectively.
    9. Hydro Power Optimization: The manifesto outlines a plan for optimizing hydropower resources to ensure 24/7 power availability in both urban and rural areas. This initiative aims to improve energy reliability and support economic activities across the region.
    10. Government Jobs for Ex-Servicemen: The SSP advocates for reserved government jobs for ex-servicemen, along with a one-time grant and annuity for gallantry award winners. This measure is intended to recognize and support the contributions of former military personnel.
    11. Permanent Employment for Daily Wagers and Adhoc Workers: The manifesto proposes transitioning daily wagers and ad-hoc workers to permanent employment status. This move is aimed at providing job security and stability to a significant segment of the workforce.
    12. Promotion of Sports Institutions: The SSP plans to establish sports institutions modeled after the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Patiala. This initiative seeks to enhance sports development and provide better training and facilities for athletes.
    13. Transparent and Accountable Governance: A core component of the manifesto is a commitment to establishing a governance system that is transparent, accountable, and free from corruption. The SSP aims to ensure that public resources are managed responsibly and that governance practices are held to the highest standards of integrity.

Colonel Pathania concluded by encouraging politically active individuals and aspiring candidates to run in the upcoming assembly elections under the Sainik Samaj Party’s banner. He urged them to uphold the party’s principles and vision, emphasizing the importance of delivering on the promises outlined in the manifesto.
