Sakeena Itoo virtually participates in nationwide launch of HPV vaccination campaign

KULGAM, FEBRUARY 28: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today virtually participated in the launch of nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination campaign for 14-year-old girls

The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today from Ajmer, Rajasthan, marking a historic milestone in India’s fight against cervical cancer.

Speaking on the sidelines of virtual launch ceremony at Kulgam, Minister Sakeena highlighted that this campaign is a significant step towards strengthening preventive healthcare services and safeguarding the health of young girls. “Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity among women and this campaign can drastically reduce the incidence of the disease”, she stated.

The Minister also said that the department has been asked to intensify Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities regarding the campaign across Jammu and Kashmir to encourage informed participation of young girls.

The Minister also reaffirmed the commitment of the Government to prioritize women’s health and strengthen preventive healthcare systems, aligning with the broader vision of accessible and affordable healthcare for all.

HPV vaccination campaign
