Sakina Itoo, Waheed Para Lock Horns in J&K Assembly Over PDP Allegations

Sharp political clash erupts as blame game over PDP’s role intensifies in the House

Jammu, Apr 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Saturday descended into chaos following a heated confrontation between Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed Para during ongoing proceedings.

The situation escalated when Itoo squarely blamed the PDP for the prevailing political and administrative challenges in the Union Territory. She asserted that the absence of statehood and elected governance was a consequence of the party’s past decisions, remarking that the current situation stemmed from PDP’s actions.

The minister further accused the party of contributing to the circumstances that followed the abrogation of Article 370, linking it to ongoing governance concerns in the region.

In a sharp rebuttal to opposition protests, Itoo criticized their approach, emphasizing that her government prioritizes performance over theatrics, stating that it believes in “action, not drama.”

The exchange triggered strong reactions from opposition benches, leading to disruptions and a tense atmosphere in the Assembly.
