India, Nov 22 : India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson has expressed his excitement about playing under MS Dhoni’s captaincy for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2026 season, calling it a long-awaited opportunity and a special moment in his career.
Samson will turn out for CSKafter being traded by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 18 crore ahead of the upcoming season. In a video shared on CSK’s YouTube channel, the wicketkeeper-batter said he is eager to learn from Dhoni’s leadership and support him in any way possible.
“I want to play with him as a captain. I want to be with him as a leader. I want to support him in whatever way he wants me to,” Samson said, praising Dhoni as a calm, composed and easy-going leader he naturally connects with.
Samson said he has repeatedly heard from domestic and international players that the CSK dressing room is among the best in the IPL, known for its positive environment and strong team culture.
“One thing I’ve heard from every Indian, domestic and international player is that the CSK dressing room is one of the finest in the league. I’ve heard lots and lots of great things,” he added.
Calling CSK one of the biggest and most successful IPL franchises, Samson said the team’s winning legacy has always stood out whenever he faced them on the field. He described the last few months as “really exciting,” saying he had been eagerly waiting to wear the famous yellow jersey.
“Whenever we played against CSK, we could see how big the franchise is, how many championships they have won. They are a champion team with a winning legacy,” he said. “I’ve been waiting for this day, and I feel very fortunate to wear the yellow jersey.”
