Schools Across J&K Begin Summer Academic Enrichment Activities During Vacation Period

Government and private schools encourage students to participate in online learning, reading programmes and skill-based assignments during summer break.

J&K, June 27 : Educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a range of academic enrichment activities during the ongoing summer vacation, encouraging students to remain engaged in learning through reading programmes, online classes, project work and skill development assignments.

School authorities said the objective of these initiatives is to ensure continuity in learning while allowing students to make productive use of their vacation. Teachers have prepared subject wise assignments designed to strengthen conceptual understanding without placing excessive academic pressure on students.

Many government and private schools have introduced voluntary online revision sessions covering Mathematics, Science, English and Social Science. These sessions are intended to help students revise important topics, clarify doubts and prepare for the upcoming academic term.

Reading campaigns have also been launched in several schools to promote reading habits among children. Students have been encouraged to read books beyond the prescribed curriculum, maintain reading journals and participate in book review competitions after the schools reopen.

Teachers are motivating students to undertake creative projects related to environmental conservation, local culture, scientific innovation and digital literacy. Schools believe that project based learning helps improve research skills, creativity and critical thinking among learners.

Education officers have appealed to parents to create a balanced routine during the summer vacation by allocating time for studies, physical activity, recreation and family interaction. They stressed that vacation learning should focus on knowledge enhancement rather than examination pressure.

Schools have also advised students to use digital platforms responsibly while accessing educational resources. Parents have been requested to supervise younger children during online learning sessions and encourage healthy screen-time habits.

Experts in school education said that continuous engagement through enrichment programmes helps reduce learning gaps and improves student confidence before the commencement of the next academic session. Such initiatives also encourage independent learning and better time management among students.

In addition to academic assignments, schools are promoting participation in art, music, sports, coding, yoga and language-learning activities to support the holistic development of children. Many institutions plan to showcase outstanding student projects and creative work after the summer vacation concludes.

Educational authorities have reiterated that summer enrichment programmes are intended to complement classroom learning and foster curiosity, innovation and lifelong learning habits among students across Jammu and Kashmir.
