Srinagar, June 29: Security agencies have significantly strengthened surveillance and deployment along the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route as preparations enter the final phase ahead of the annual pilgrimage. Authorities have activated a multi-layer security mechanism to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims through both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
Joint teams comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other security agencies have intensified area domination exercises, anti-sabotage operations and vehicle inspections in sensitive locations. Senior officials said security reviews are being conducted regularly to assess preparedness and respond swiftly to any emerging threats.
Advanced surveillance equipment, drone monitoring and CCTV cameras have been deployed at strategic locations, including base camps, transit points and key road stretches. Bomb Disposal Squads and sniffer dog units are also carrying out routine checks before the arrival of pilgrims.
Authorities stated that Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been stationed at multiple locations while emergency medical facilities, disaster response teams and communication systems have been strengthened to handle any contingency during the pilgrimage.
Traffic police have prepared a detailed movement plan for pilgrims and service vehicles to ensure smooth travel and minimise congestion along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Convoy movement will be monitored round the clock through integrated control rooms.
Officials have appealed to devotees to follow official advisories, travel only with authorised convoys and cooperate with security personnel during security checks. Public awareness campaigns regarding weather updates, safety guidelines and emergency helplines are also being conducted.
The annual Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of devotees from across the country, making comprehensive security planning a top priority for the administration. Authorities expressed confidence that coordinated efforts among various agencies would ensure a peaceful and incident free pilgrimage season.
