Security Forces Step Up Statewide Crackdown in Manipur, Several Arrested

Intelligence based raids lead to arrests linked to insurgency and drug trafficking, public warned against sharing misleading videos.

Manipur, Nov 15 : Security forces in Manipur have intensified intelligence-based combing and cordon and search operations across the state as part of an ongoing drive to curb extortion, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities.

Several arrests were made during the latest round of Manipur security operations carried out on Thursday.

In one operation, an active cadre of a proscribed outfit was apprehended from the Canchipur area under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession.

In a separate routine checking drive at the Maram checkpoint in Senapati district, security personnel detained two individuals involved in drug trafficking. Officials seized 18.2 kg of opium along with a four-wheeler vehicle from them.

Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media showing armed individuals in Myanmar and claiming they are heading toward Manipur has been flagged as misleading. Authorities urged the public not to share such content, warning that it may cause unnecessary fear and could attract legal action.

Police said security forces across the state, including those guarding border areas, remain on high alert and will continue taking all necessary measures to maintain peace and ensure public safety.
