07-06-2023 : Responding to a new proposal from the government to hold talks about the issues they have raised during their continuing protest, wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik have made their way to the residence of Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. Anurag Thakur had stated in a tweet that he had offered a second invitation for meetings to show the government’s desire to address the wrestlers’ issues.
The wrestlers have been steadfast in their protest, seeking the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP and the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), who faces allegations of sexual harassment. Sakshi Malik, an Olympic medalist, mentioned earlier in the day that they would deliberate on the government’s proposal and reach a consensus among their senior members and supporters before making a decision.
Malik emphasized that their agreement to the proposal would only come after thorough consideration and unanimous consent. They are determined not to accept any resolution from the government that does not address their concerns, signaling that the protest will not cease until a satisfactory resolution is reached.
The government is willing to have a discussion with the wrestlers on their issues.
I have once again invited the wrestlers for the same.

The Delhi Police is currently investigating the allegations made against Brij Bhushan Singh by the wrestlers, which led to the filing of an FIR (First Information Report) against him. The legal process is underway as the wrestlers continue their efforts to seek justice in this matter.
