DUBAI, Sept 5: India opener Shafali Verma created history during the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan on Saturday, becoming the youngest and fastest batter to complete 3,000 runs in women’s T20 internationals.
Verma achieved the landmark at the age of 22 years and 220 days during India’s Group A encounter in Dubai. Her achievement came as the Indian side continued its strong campaign in the continental tournament.
The milestone adds another significant record to the young batter’s international career. Verma has established herself as one of India’s most aggressive opening batters and has played an important role in the team’s success in the shortest format.
The landmark was achieved during a match in which India produced a commanding performance against Pakistan. India’s bowlers restricted their opponents to only 55 runs before the chase was completed in 8.4 overs.
Although India lost three wickets during the pursuit, the middle order ensured that the team did not face a major setback. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur struck the winning runs as India secured a seven wicket victory.
The result also strengthened India’s position at the top of Group A and continued the team’s impressive start to the tournament.
For Verma, the achievement provides another landmark in a career that has already seen her emerge as one of the most prominent young players in women’s cricket.
