Shamim Firdous directs fast-track of development works in Habba Kadal

Srinagar, 30 Jan: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Women’s Wing President and Habba Kadal MLA Shamim Firdous Friday conducted an extensive tour across her constituency to review ongoing development and construction projects.

She was accompanied by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner and senior officials from various departments. During the visit Firdous emphasized the need to accelerate development works and ensure timely completion to alleviate public inconveniences. She interacted with residents, listened to their grievances and issued on-the-spot instructions for immediate action. Party’s Publicity Secretary Mir GM Saqi also accompanied her.

She visited the historic Dargah Aasar-e-Sharif at Kalashpora, where officials informed her that ₹46 lakh has been sanctioned by the SMC for beautification and related works. Additional funds have also been approved for the construction of a new main gate. It was informed that two Waqf shops would be removed to facilitate the gate construction, with proper rehabilitation of the affected shopkeepers, thereby improving devotees’ access.

Firdous also inspected 13 shops and properties from New Fateh Kadal to Khanqah-e-Moula, slated for removal under a road-widening project. Authorities stated that ₹71 crore has already been allocated for rehabilitation and is available with the Revenue Department. She instructed officials to commence work immediately to expedite the project.
