Shiv Sena alleges increase in cow smuggling, demands strict laws to grant cows the status of “mother”

Advised Omar to set an example
Jammu: The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has alleged an increase in cow smuggling cases since the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir and demanded that Omar and the central government declare the cow “mother” of the state and nation, and enact strict laws against slaughter and smuggling.
Led by party state chief Manish Sahni, Shiv Sainiks gathered at Dogra Chowk in Jammu and protested vigorously, holding placards that read “I love Gau Mata” and “Declare cow as mother of the state and nation.”
Manish Sahni said that cow smuggling cases have increased since the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir and the implementation of the Indian Penal Code. This sacred land of sages and saints is being tarnished by cow smuggling.
Sahni said that the increasing cases of cow smuggling not only hurt religious sentiments but also pose a threat to mutual respect and law and order. He said that those who claim to be so-called well-wishers of Hindus and a Hindu nation remain silent when it comes to granting the cow the status of “national mother” and enacting strict laws against cow smuggling.
Omar Abdullah should set a good example by granting the cow the status of “state mother.”
Sahni warned that the Assembly session is set to begin on October 23rd. He demanded that all MLAs from both the ruling and opposition parties (specialy the BJP) raised this iussue and grant the cow legal status as “mother” and enact strict laws against cow slaughter and smuggling. Otherwise, they would be forced to take to the streets against all the MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni demanded that the central government remove the cow from the list of animals and pass a law in Parliament declaring the cow the “mother of the nation.
