Jammu:- Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has demanded to destinate the examination centers of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-2024 at the state and district level and to give the first right of admission to local students.
Party state chief Manish Sahni, while briefing the media , said that the local students should have the first right for admission in colleges and universities of every state and union territory including Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that he has no problem with the CUET examination, but the arbitrariness of the National Testing Agency in determining the examination centers outside the state will have to be completely stopped.
Along with this, local students should have the first right on admission in colleges and universities of every state.
He said that in 2023, around 24,000 students of Jammu and Kashmir had found CUET exam centers in other states. Due to which the students had to face a lot of problems, hundreds of students could not even reach the examination centres.
Sahni said that due to inflation, unemployment and economic recession, parents are finding it difficult to educate their children and additional burden should not be put on them by setting up examination centers in distant and other states.
He further said that it is unfortunate that Jammu and Kashmir, which is called the crown of the country, is not included in the list of top 10 states with the highest literacy rate in the country.
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir strives to reach 100 percent literacy rate.
He said that this tradition should be changed in the 2024 examination , local students of the state should get preference in admission and examination centers should be determined at the state and district level.
Sahni said in a warning tone that playing with the future of students will not be tolerated at all, if the above demands are not implemented then Shiv Sena will be forced to launch a mass movement and come on the streets.
