Shiv Sena demands ownership rights to residents of custodian properties

Jammu,19-04-2025:  Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has demanded to give ownership rights to the residents of the properties of people who left Jammu and Kashmir and went to Pakistan in 1947 and abolition of the Custodian Department.
In a press conference held today at the party centre office, Jammu, state chief Manish Sahni said that even after 77 years of independence, the local people living in the houses of people who went to Pakistan from Jammu and Kashmir have not been given ownership rights. Expressing apprehension, he said that the main reason for reluctance in giving ownership rights to the residents living in custodian houses is that most of the properties are with Hindus, Sikhs.
He said that the Punjab government had ended the custodian department in 1990 itself by settling such properties. Now the residents of Jammu and Kashmir should also be given ownership rights of these committees. Sahni has demanded that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah give ownership rights of the property to the local people living in custodian properties with immediate effect and completely end the custodian department.
