Jammu,13-02-2025. The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has demanded to keep alive and promote the Dogra dialect, art, and cultural identity.
In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that The step-motherly treatment towards the Dogri language, art, and identity that started during the rule of Kashmiri rulers in the Dogra state of Jammu and Kashmir is continuing even today. Despite being a favorite destination for filmmakers, the local film industry is not able to get wings of success. The first Dogri film, “Gallan Hoiyaan Beetiyan,” was released in September 1966, in the journey of 59 years, only a dozen Dogri films have been released on the big screen so far. The biggest problem in the Dogri film industry is the lack of financial support and decades. At the same time, Dogri filmmakers often regret not getting cinema halls. Along with this, the broadcast of Jammu Doordarshan, which is considered the easiest and most important medium to keep local art and culture alive and encourage regional artists, is continuously decreasing.
Sahni has demanded the broadcast of the 24X7 Duggar channel, special financial assistance for Dogri films, relaxation in the conditions of subsidy for local languages in the film policy, and instructions to cinema halls to show at least one show for two weeks before the release of a Dogri film.
Along with this demand to make Dogri a compulsory subject in schools. An appeal was made to the local people to communicate in Dogri at home and business offices. On this occasion, Gen. Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Sr. Vice President Sanjeev Kohli, and Ashok Kumar were present.
