Jammu, 23-02-2023:- The public is suffering from inflation, and unemployment while the government is busy in recovery, the decision to impose a tax on residential and commercial buildings in Jammu and Kashmir should be rolled back immediately, said Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni.
Terming property tax as economic exploitation of people, a team of Shiv Sena (UBT) led by state chief Manish Sahni reached Jammu Raj Bhavan today and handed over a memorandum to Honorable Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, demanding immediate withdrawal of the decision to impose a property tax.
Sahni said that after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are continuously being exploited financially by increasing the tax burden.
After skyrocketing electricity and water bills, now the burden of property tax on the public is like robbing their pockets.
Sahni warned that if the property tax will not be withdrawn in the next few days, the Shiv Sena would launch a massive mass agitation and sit on an indefinite hunger strike.
Sahni reminded Jammu Mayor Rajinder Sharma of his promise made in the General House that “no property tax will be levied in the areas under the municipality” and today the mayor is evading the entire blame on the Council of Administration. Along with this, he has also been accused of ending the powers of the elected body. Sahni said that if this is the reality then he should immediately resign from his post. On this occasion president Mahila wing Meenakshi Chibber, Gen secretary Vikas Bakshi, and Sr. Vice president Sanjeev Kohli were present.
