Jammu: On October 26, 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession, marking a momentous day when Jammu and Kashmir became an integral part of India. On the occasion of this historic day, the people of Jammu and Kashmir take pride in their Indian identity.
The last Dogra ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh, who never anticipated that he was handing over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir to India, could not have imagined that this special state would be divided into two union territories, losing its statehood and special rights, and leaving the people waiting for the restoration of democratic processes.
This was stated by Manish Sahni, President of Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir Unit.
On the occasion, Manish Sahni inaugurated a Women’s Complaint and Assistance Center open by Shiv Sena at Ranbir Yatri Bhavan in Jammu.
On the occasion of Accession Day, Sahni made a call to the Modi government to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, uphold Article 371 to secure its cultural identity, and demand special rights in education, employment, and land.
Sahni mentioned that on October 26, 1947, Jammu and Kashmir acceded to India with specific terms and conditions, signed by Maharaja Hari Singh for the benefit of his people. The entire nation takes pride in this momentous day. However, despite more than seven decades, the statehood has not been restored, and the people have been kept away from democratic processes for over five years, he added.
On this occasion, key members of the organization, including Meenakshi Chhibber, President of the Women’s Wing, Sanjeev Kohli, Balwant Singh, and Youth Secretary Rajesh Handa, were present.
