Karnataka, Dec 01 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is slated to visit Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s residence on Tuesday for a breakfast meeting, reflecting Congress leadership’s efforts to showcase unity amid ongoing speculation over a possible leadership change in the state.
The engagement follows Shivakumar’s visit to Siddaramaiah’s residence on Saturday. Both leaders, following instructions from the party high command, have repeatedly stressed publicly that “there won’t be any confusion” and reaffirmed their commitment to abide by the high command’s decisions on leadership matters.
Officials indicate that this latest interaction is part of a broader strategy by the central leadership to ease tensions between the two camps and reinforce Siddaramaiah’s continuation as Chief Minister, at least temporarily, ahead of the Karnataka legislature session beginning December 8.
Rumours of a leadership shuffle resurfaced after the Congress government completed the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20, reviving discussions around a purported 2023 “power-sharing” understanding between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, though the party has not officially confirmed any such arrangement.
