JAMMU: Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit on Wednesday observed that more than four years since the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is struggling to maintain its political foothold in the state due to anti-people policies.
Addressing media persons here today, Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena (UBT), J&K, said that since the fall of the BJP-PDP coalition government in 2018, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been kept away from the democratic process. Despite citing the abrogation of Article 370 and improved conditions as reasons, the BJP, which had promised peace and normalcy, is now attempting to delay the elections for Panchayats and Municipal Corporations, using the excuse of security concerns.
Sahni highlighted that the BJP’s preparations to disenfranchise the people of Jammu and Kashmir and completely dismantle the democratic system are apparent.
He stated that the common man is suffering from unemployment, and gap between the public and the government is at its lowest ebb. “People’s issues have been entirely sidelined. In Jammu and Kashmir, the ground realities have turned bleak for the BJP, and the Party’s High Command is fully aware of this fact,” he said.
Sahni said in an effort to salvage its image until the parliamentary elections, the BJP is willing to trample upon the fundamental rights and participation of the people in the lowest rungs of democracy.
Among those who were present include General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Vice President Balwant Singh, and president Kamghar Wing Raj Singh.
