06-10-2023 : In a recent development, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Corporator Aqib Ahmed Renzu has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) and subsequently transferred to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu, according to local law enforcement authorities.
The decision to invoke the Public Safety Act against Aqib Renzu comes in the wake of his involvement in multiple criminal cases, as revealed by the Srinagar police. In an official statement released by the police department, it was disclosed that Aqib Renzu faces a total of seven First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against him in different police stations across Srinagar.
The charges filed against him span a range of offenses, including rioting, assault, blackmail, sexual harassment, and outraging modesty, among others.
