Social, political organizations take out candle march in support of wrestlers

Seek apology from Delhi Police for barbaric action
JAMMU: Various political and social parties today jointly took out a candle march as a mark of protest against the police action late last evening on national and international medal-winning wrestlers who were sitting on a Dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, seeking action against the President of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over complaints of sexual harassment by several women wrestlers.
In this context, Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K, Hoshiar Singh from Karni Sena, social worker Satish Punchhi, leaders and workers of dozens of various political and social organizations took part in the candle march in support of national and international wrestlers sitting on a Dharna at Jantar Mantar. The participants sought strict legal action and arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by women wrestlers and demanded a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate the matter.
They also sought an apology from the Delhi Police for the barbaric action taken against the wrestlers who have brought pride to the country.
Pertinent to mention that the wrestlers had ordered beds due to rain and those who were stopped by the police even before reaching the picket site. Meanwhile, there was a scuffle between the police and the protesters. According to reports, two wrestlers including Dushyant Phogat got hurt and women players were abused by police which is intolerable act.
