Solanki Lambasts Modi Government for False Promises and Anti-Poor Policies, J&K’s Identity at Stake

Jammu, 03-02-2024 : Bharat Singh Solanki, the senior AICC leader overseeing J&K affairs and former Union Power Minister, launched a scathing critique against the Modi government, accusing it of deceiving the public with false promises. Speaking at a party convention organized by OBC, Minority, ST & Kissan Congress units Refugees Cell at RS Pura, Solanki asserted that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to curb inflation, create two crore jobs, and double farmers’ income. However, after a decade, Solanki argued that people have come to realize that these promises were mere diversionary tactics before elections.

Highlighting the impact of BJP’s policies, Solanki contended that they were against the interests of the poor, downtrodden, and farmers who have borne the brunt of soaring prices and unemployment. He accused Modi of selling grand dreams in 2014 to attract the marginalized towards the BJP, only to witness unprecedented price hikes, job scarcity, and policies detrimental to the poor and farmers.

Solanki emphasized Congress’s commitment to all sections, especially the underprivileged, through its policies and programs. He pointed out the implementation of the 73rd & 74th Amendments for political reservations at grassroots levels but expressed dissatisfaction with the delimitation process in J&K, asserting that justice was not served to deprived sections, minority communities, and specific areas.

The senior leader criticized the BJP for not fully implementing the refugee package framed by Congress and highlighted issues such as power shortages and the installation of smart meters. Solanki advocated for the potential of mini power projects to generate employment and provide subsidized power to the people.

PCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani echoed Solanki’s sentiments, claiming that J&K lost its identity, status, and rights under the BJP regime. He alleged that the poor were evicted from their lands, unemployment soared, and the region’s resources were exploited by outsiders. Wani called upon the people to reject the BJP to safeguard the Constitution and democracy, promising justice to deserving sections.

Other prominent Congress leaders, including Raman Bhalla and Tara Chand, criticized BJP’s policies against the underprivileged and attempts to weaken the Constitution. They urged people to unite against divisive policies and false propaganda, emphasizing that only Congress could deliver justice to all sections of society.

The convention, attended by leaders from various Congress wings, addressed the concerns and demands of minority, ST, OBC, Kissan Congress, and JAT community. AICC secretary Manoj Yadav, senior vice president Ravinder Sharma, former Minister Gurbachan Kumari Rana, and other party leaders were present at the event.
