South Kashmir’s Shopian Witnesses Widespread Police Searches to Curb Anti-National Activities

Jammu & Kashmir Police Intensify Operations in Shopian to Prevent Anti-National Activities

SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted extensive search operations across multiple locations in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, targeting homes of former Hurriyat activists and individuals previously linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

Official sources said the coordinated raids began early in the morning as part of a crackdown on elements suspected of involvement in anti-national activities. The operations were carried out simultaneously across several villages and town areas under tight security.

“The searches are a preventive measure to maintain peace and security in the district,” an officer said. Officials confirmed that documents, digital devices, and other materials were being scrutinized for evidence of unlawful activities.

The police said the operation aims to curb anti-national activities and monitor the movement of individuals with past links to separatist or extremist organizations. Those targeted had reportedly been under surveillance due to alleged connections with banned outfits or prior involvement in separatist campaigns.

Authorities added that search operations will continue across other parts of Shopian in the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement measures and prevent attempts to disturb public order.
