SP Challenges BJP’s ‘Double Engine’ Claim with New ‘Strong Engine’ Slogan

Akhilesh Yadav depicted as a powerful train engine on billboards showcasing SP’s flagship schemes and vision for 2027 elections.

India, Oct 23 : The Samajwadi Party (SP) has launched its new political slogan, “Strong Engine Government,” aimed at challenging the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) well known campaign phrase, “Double Engine Government.” The BJP has relied on this slogan to showcase its governance model and secure electoral victories in multiple states.

A striking hoarding outside the SP office in Lucknow featured party chief Akhilesh Yadav as a train engine, with the tagline “One Engine, Strong Engine.” The train coaches illustrated key schemes implemented during the SP’s previous tenure, highlighting initiatives like the Samajwadi pension scheme, Kanya Vidyadhan, Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Laptop scheme, Lucknow Metro, Dial 100, and other infrastructure projects.

The billboard also incorporated greetings for Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj, along with a Sanskrit verse extolling generosity, humility, and wisdom. SP candidate Jairam Pandey, who installed the hoarding, included a creative twist by marking Akhilesh Yadav’s birthday, although his official date of birth is July 1, 1973.

The billboard further introduced the SP’s new PDA formula P for Progressive, D for Visionary, and A for Peace-loving—reinforcing the party’s governance philosophy. Pandey has been commemorating Yadav’s birthday with themed hoardings for the past nine years, each highlighting the party’s vision and achievements.

Political analysts view the “Strong Engine Government” campaign as an assertive strategy to energize SP supporters, counter BJP narratives, and showcase a roadmap for development ahead of the 2027 state elections.
