Srinagar, Oct 4: In a decisive move against terrorist networks, Srinagar Police have attached a three storey residential property spanning 15 marlas at Rose Avenue, HMT, belonging to the father of designated terrorist Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Sajad Gul. The property is valued at approximately ₹2 crore, officials confirmed.
A police spokesperson stated, “The property is recorded in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, father of Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, as verified by revenue records and Tehsildar Central, Shalteng, Srinagar. The attachment was carried out under FIR No. 235/2022, sections 13, 38, 20 UAPA, and 2/3 EIMCO Act at Police Station Parimpora.”
The attachment was executed under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which allows authorities to seize properties used or intended for terrorist activities. Though registered under his father’s name, investigations reveal that Sajad Gul actively manages and benefits from the property to fund terrorism, run anti-national propaganda, and incite disaffection against the Government via social media.
The police emphasized that this action is part of a broader strategy to dismantle financial, operational, and logistical networks of terrorism, including their cross-border sponsors. “This serves as a strong message that anyone aiding terrorism will face strict legal consequences, including the seizure of illegally acquired assets,” the spokesperson said.
Srinagar Police reaffirmed its commitment to uphold law and order while targeting terror networks in the region.
