Srinagar’s Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden Opens for Public Viewing

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden welcomes visitors as Kashmir’s spring tourism season begins.

Srinagar, Mar 16: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated the famed Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar, marking the arrival of spring and the start of the tourist season in Kashmir.

Situated on the foothills of the Zabarwan Range and overlooking the iconic Dal Lake, the sprawling garden is expected to draw thousands of visitors eager to witness the vibrant floral display.

Officials said more than 70 varieties of tulips have been planted this year, creating a colourful landscape across the terraced garden. In addition to tulips, several other spring blossoms such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari and ranunculus have also been cultivated to enhance the attraction.

The garden has become a major seasonal destination, attracting tourists, photographers and nature enthusiasts from across the country and abroad during the blooming period.

Authorities have made special arrangements, including improved transport facilities, designated parking areas, security deployment and visitor services, to handle the anticipated rush during the peak flowering weeks.
