RAMBAN, MARCH 29: Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, P.D. Nitya, today chaired an introductory meeting with DDC- Councilors, Civil Society members, & Civil QRT of the district.
The Civil society members from all sections attended the meeting and put forward various issues of public importance. All the issues raised by participants were discussed at length and a series of suggestions given by the public were taken note of.
After giving a patient hearing to all the speakers in the meeting, the SSP highlighted the importance of the role of civil society in a democratic setup.
While appreciating the role of civil society, she called for mutual coordination with regard to the reformation of society by eradicating all the social evils.
She emphasized that police being an indispensable institution of society cannot work without the assistance and cooperation of civil society. It is the civil society that determines the working and fate of every institution in a democratic setup, she added.
She further called for strengthening the police public relations and assured the public that all the issues raised at this meeting will be resolved at the earliest. She further added that issues like drug abuse, women’s security, bovine smuggling, and smooth functioning of the traffic system in the district are our high priority. “The crackdowns on drug peddlers and eve-teasers have already started and the visible results on the ground will be seen soon”, she added.
She also appealed to the public of Ramban to provide feedback with regard to the working of police so as to improve the efficiency of Ramban police for a better public delivery system.
Other officers including the ASP Ramban and SHO Ramban were present in the public meeting.
