JAMMU: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Thursday urged the government to revamp and strengthen the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) to make the people living in rural hamlets self-sufficient in ensuring security and safety against the threat by ultras working on behest of Pakistan to create unrest in the region.
The BJP stalwart was addressing a monthly meeting of BJP South Constituency convened by its President Rekha Mahajan here at Party’s District Office in Kachhi Chawni. Vinay Gupta, Baldev Baloria Deputy Mayor, Vikram Randhawa ex MLC, Ayodhya Gupta Prabhari, Akash Chopra and Pushpinder Singh General Secretary besides office bearers, Mandal Presidents and Morcha Presidents were also present.
At the outset of the meeting, heartfelt tributes were paid to the victims of Rajouri twin terror attacks. The meeting in one voice urged the administration to provide the best possible treatment to the injured people free of cost.
Condemning the carnage, Kavinder said that the government should revisit the security plan for the rural as well as urban hamlets in the Jammu Province so that such unfortunate incidents could not happen again. He said that the Centre should further increase the deployment of CAPFs in the region giving more than adequate security to places inhabited by the vulnerable minority communities as the threat perception has gone up due to pressure on terrorists after the security forces have tightened noose around them in Kashmir and they are desperate to revive the terrorism in the UT.
Kavinder categorically said that the Modi Government will not allow Pak based terror outfits to ruin peace in Kashmir once again and everything required to ward off terrorism will be put in place in J&K as nothing short of complete and lasting peace is the aim of BJP dispensation led by PM Narendra Modi.
Rekha Mahajan, in her address, asked the party cadre to disseminate information about the party’s achievements and plans for the future course of action in J&K so that more and more people get associated with BJP making it a force to reckon with in J&K.
