01-06-2023 : The Uttar Pradesh government has begun a thorough 15-day registration campaign across the state’s 75 districts in an important measure to support the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. The goals and scope of the programme were outlined in a formal statement released by the Chief Minister’s office on Thursday.
The campaign, which is expected to last until June 15, aims to register roughly 14 lakh unregistered MSMEs with the MSME Udyam portal so they can take advantage of the many advantages provided by the state government’s initiatives. According to the MSME and Export Promotion department, just 14 lakh of the more than 90 lakh active MSMEs functioning in Uttar Pradesh are currently formally registered.
Acknowledging the crucial contribution of these enterprises to the state’s GDP, the government emphasizes the need for registration to ensure all eligible MSMEs can avail themselves of the various schemes and facilities provided by the Yogi government. To facilitate the registration process, the Directorate of Industries will organize registration camps in each district, while MSMEs can also register themselves through the designated online portal.
The main objective of this campaign is to provide a platform for active MSMEs to benefit from the government’s dedicated schemes. The officials from the MSME and Export Promotion Department emphasize the urgency of registering a significant number of active MSMEs that currently lack registration to ensure they can access government schemes and support.
With the campaign launched simultaneously across all districts from June 1 to June 15, the state government aims to achieve the registration of all MSMEs. Notably, a considerable portion of these enterprises operates within the unorganized sector. The initiation of this campaign will enable these units to register on a large scale and enjoy the benefits provided by government schemes and other facilities.
The Yogi government emphasizes the importance of registration for MSMEs, as it grants them a recognized identity necessary for smooth business operations. Moreover, registered MSMEs have access to a facilitation council that resolves payment-related disputes, providing them with added advantages.
One of the most significant benefits of registration is the availability of accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for micro-entrepreneurs, pending approval from the cabinet. By highlighting these advantages, the government aims to encourage non-registered MSMEs to participate in the registration drive.
The statement further clarifies the eligibility criteria for different categories of enterprises: micro-enterprises with an investment of up to Rs 1 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 5 crore, small enterprises with an investment of up to Rs 10 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 50 crore, and medium enterprises with an investment of up to Rs 50 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 250 crore. Registered MSMEs will also be eligible for free accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, which will be available under the soon-to-be-implemented scheme.
With the ambitious registration drive underway, the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to expanding the base of registered MSMEs, allowing them to reap the benefits of various schemes and initiatives introduced to support the growth and development of the sector.
