Successful Foiling of Infiltration Bid: Security Forces Eliminate Militant in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir

30-10-2023: In a recent security operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, an unidentified militant was killed, successfully foiling an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Jumugund area of the Keran sector. This operation, conducted jointly by the Army and Kupwara Police, represents the second thwarted infiltration bid in Kupwara within a span of four days.

The operation commenced on Sunday and resulted in the elimination of one terrorist. The security forces remain actively engaged in a search operation to ensure the safety and security of the region. These ongoing efforts underscore the persistent challenges faced in this conflict-prone region.

This particular incident follows a similar occurrence on October 26 when five suspected militants associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba were neutralized in the Machil sector of Kupwara. The continuous attempts by militant groups to infiltrate across the Line of Control have necessitated a proactive and vigilant stance by the security forces in the region.

Highlighting the scale of the challenge, Major General Girish Kalia, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s Kupwara-based 28 Mountain Division, revealed that 27 militants had been eliminated during the past eight months in 10 separate infiltration attempts along the Line of Control in Kupwara district. The situation remains fluid and dynamic, requiring ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability in the region. The dedication and commitment of the security forces in thwarting these infiltration attempts are vital to the safety and well-being of the residents of Kupwara and the broader region.
