New Delhi, Aug 03 : The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) on a batch of petitions questioning the conduct of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026. The pleas raise concerns over alleged technical failures, exam disruptions and inconsistencies that reportedly affected candidates across several examination centres.
A bench of the apex court issued notices after hearing submissions from petitioners, who argued that many students faced server issues, delayed examination schedules and technical interruptions during the computer based test. They claimed these problems compromised the fairness of the admission process for undergraduate programmes.
The petitioners have requested appropriate relief, including corrective measures to ensure that no candidate is placed at a disadvantage because of circumstances beyond their control. They also urged the court to direct the authorities to maintain transparency while evaluating the examination process.
The National Testing Agency is expected to submit its response detailing the arrangements made for the examination, steps taken to address technical issues and safeguards adopted to preserve the integrity of the test.
The matter assumes significance as CUET-UG has become the primary gateway for admission to central universities and several other higher education institutions across the country. The Supreme Court is likely to hear the matter further after receiving responses from all concerned authorities.
