T.S. Singh Deo Appointed Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh Ahead of Assembly Polls: Congress Party’s Strategic Move

28-06-2023 : The Congress party has made a significant move by appointing T.S. Singh Deo as the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, just months ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. This decision comes after a crucial meeting chaired by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi to discuss the party’s strategy for the state polls.

Announcing the appointment, party general secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal to appoint T.S. Singh Deo as the deputy chief minister of Chhattisgarh. Venugopal praised Singh Deo as a loyal Congress leader and an able administrator, expressing confidence that the state will greatly benefit from his services as Deputy CM.

The Congress party is optimistic about the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and believes that under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, the party will secure a resounding victory. The appointment of T.S. Singh Deo as Deputy CM is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s position and appeal to the electorate.

Prior to the appointment, both T.S. Singh Deo and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the crucial meeting at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in the national capital. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and party state in-charge Kumari Selja were also present, indicating the high importance attached to the discussions.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in a tweet following the meeting, expressed confidence that the Congress party is prepared for the upcoming assembly polls. He stated that the meeting focused on the transformative changes brought about in people’s lives through the ‘Nava Chhattisgarh’ (New Chhattisgarh) model.

It’s worth noting that Singh Deo and Baghel have had a strained relationship since the Congress came to power in Chhattisgarh in 2018. Singh Deo had claimed earlier that the party leadership had promised a rotational chief ministership between him and Baghel, a claim that Baghel vehemently denied.

With the appointment of T.S. Singh Deo as Deputy CM, the Congress party aims to strengthen its internal unity, project a united front, and capitalize on the leadership and experience of both Singh Deo and Baghel in the upcoming assembly elections. The party is gearing up to present its vision and achievements through the ‘Nava Chhattisgarh’ model, hoping to secure the trust and support of the electorate.
