Mumbai, Jan 11: The Tata Power Company Limited announced on Saturday that it has completed the acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited (JHPTL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra.
The acquisition, valued at ₹2.42 crore, was finalised on January 9, 2026, following the execution of a share purchase agreement, as disclosed under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Approval for the transfer was obtained from the Ministry of Power, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Tata Power confirmed that the acquisition does not involve related party transactions, and no promoter or group entity of the company holds any interest in JHPTL.
Speaking on the completion, Tata Power Company Secretary Vispi S. Patel said the move marks a key milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in the power transmission sector.
Incorporated on March 28, 2025, JHPTL is a project specific SPV established on a Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis to provide transmission services. The project includes the construction of approximately 115 km of 400 kV double circuit line between Jejuri and Hinjewadi, along with the extension of 400 kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) line bays at substations at both locations.
The SPV is expected to achieve commercial operations within 24 months from the date of acquisition. Once operational, the project will enhance load handling, reduce transmission congestion, and support reliable power evacuation to facilitate industrial and urban growth in the Pune region.
The transmission project is also anticipated to strengthen grid reliability and energy transfer capacity in one of India’s fastest growing regions, contributing to broader efforts to modernise Maharashtra’s electrical infrastructure.
