Tawi River Tragedy in Jammu: Third Victim’s Body Recovered

Third victim recovered a day after two bodies found tragedy near Nagrota shocks Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 31: Rescue teams on Tuesday retrieved the body of the third teenager who had gone missing after being swept away by a strong current in the Tawi river near Sainik School Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu, officials said.

Two bodies had already been recovered a day earlier, while the final victim was located nearly half a kilometre downstream from the spot where the incident occurred, Inspector Vinood Kumar confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Bavish Koul (15), Sonam Dutt (16), and Aditya Pandit (15), all members of the Kashmiri Pandit community. The trio was reported missing on Sunday after being caught in the river’s forceful flow.

Authorities said the teenagers had been playing volleyball along the riverbank before stepping into the water for a bath, when they were suddenly overpowered by the current.

All three bodies have been shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu, for postmortem examinations.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending condolences to the bereaved families.
