Jammu, Mar 8: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday extended their congratulations to the Indian national cricket team after its emphatic victory over New Zealand in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad.
India delivered a dominant batting display in the title clash, setting a record total before securing a convincing 96-run win to retain the T20 World Cup crown.
Praising the team’s performance, Sinha described the triumph as a proud moment for the country.
“A truly spectacular victory! Heartiest congratulations to Team India on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The grit and exceptional skills displayed by the Men in Blue have filled every Indian heart with immense pride. Proud of our champions,” the Lt Governor wrote in a post on X.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also applauded the squad for its outstanding achievement. In a message shared through the Chief Minister’s Office on X, he said the team’s success would further strengthen India’s rich cricketing legacy and inspire millions of fans across the nation.
The victory sparked jubilant scenes across Jammu, where supporters poured onto the streets soon after the final result was confirmed. Fireworks lit up the night sky as people waved the national flag, cheered loudly and celebrated the moment with friends and neighbours.
Fans were seen distributing sweets, raising slogans in support of the national side and congratulating one another, turning many localities into scenes of festivity following the memorable win.
