04-05-2023 : An Army helicopter crashed in the Marwah hills of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, leaving three people injured. According to a spokesperson from the Northern Command, the incident occurred at around 11:15 a.m. while the Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter was on an operational mission.
The pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and decided to make a precautionary landing on the banks of Marua river in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir. The helicopter apparently made a hard landing due to the undulating ground, undergrowth, and unprepared landing area.
The Army immediately launched rescue operations, and Army rescue teams reached the site. Two pilots and a technician were on board the helicopter at the time of the crash. All three of them were injured and have been evacuated to Command Hospital in Udhampur. The official also mentioned that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident as per media reports.
The incident is yet another reminder of the dangers faced by the brave soldiers of our armed forces who put their lives on the line to ensure our safety and security. We can only hope that the injured personnel make a speedy recovery and that such incidents are minimized in the future.
