Pune, Nov 30: Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Sunday said that technology is transforming the pace of human thought and will remain “our greatest asset in the future.”
He was addressing the Passing-Out Parade of the 149th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) at the historic Khetrapal Parade Ground in Khadakwasla, Pune.
A total of 328 cadets graduated during Saturday’s convocation ceremony. Of them, 216 received Bachelor’s Degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)—72 in Science, 92 in Computer Science and 52 in Arts. Eighteen cadets from friendly foreign nations were also awarded degrees.
Additionally, 112 BTech cadets from the Navy and Air Force completed their three year academic programme. They will receive their BTech degrees after a final year of training at their respective pre-commissioning academies the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala and the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad.
As chief guest at Sunday’s parade, Admiral Tripathi said he sees the next generation of military leaders as disciplined, determined and ready to safeguard India’s peace, security and sovereignty.
“Technology is changing the speed of thoughts. Technology is our greatest asset in the future,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister has often emphasised that “the path of peace also goes through power.”
He praised the rigorous three-year training at the NDA for shaping cadets into capable warriors and leaders. Highlighting the presence of the second batch of women cadets, he urged all graduates to prioritise responsibility over recognition.
“Focus on your duty, not on the award. An award does not define your capability your duty defines you,” he said.
The first batch of women cadets graduated from the NDA in May this year, after the UPSC opened entry to women following a 2021 Supreme Court directive.
