NEW DELHI, Aug 11: India’s rising tennis player Manas Dhamne has received his maiden Davis Cup call-up, earning a place in the national squad for the Qualifier Round 2 tie against South Korea.
The 18 year old’s selection marks a significant step in his young career and comes after a rapid rise on the international tennis circuit. India will face South Korea in Seoul on September 18 and 19.
Dhamne has emerged as one of the promising names in Indian men’s tennis and has continued to make progress through international competitions. His recent performances have strengthened his case for greater opportunities at the senior level.
The Pune-based youngster has also featured prominently in India’s tennis development pathway. The Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association has previously highlighted him among the state’s notable junior players and recorded his success in international junior competition.
His Davis Cup selection provides another platform for the teenager to gain experience alongside established Indian players. The tie against South Korea will also test the country’s young talent against a strong international opponent.
