Bihar, Nov 4 : RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday announced a series of major welfare measures ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, pledging free electricity for irrigation and direct financial aid for women.
Speaking at the launch of his party’s key election promises, Yadav said, “The matter at hand is to build Bihar. As soon as we form the government, electricity for irrigation will be made free. Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACs) will be recognised as public representatives, and farmers will receive ₹300 and ₹400 above the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy and wheat, respectively.”
Highlighting his commitment to women’s empowerment, Yadav unveiled the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’, under which ₹30,000 will be directly credited annually to women’s bank accounts. “On Makar Sankranti, January 14, we will deposit ₹30,000 into women’s accounts after forming the government,” he declared.
The RJD leader expressed confidence in the Mahagathbandhan’s victory, saying, “Hum log jeet rahe hain, Bihar ki janta jita rahi hai. We will take oath on November 18.”
Outlining administrative reforms, Yadav announced that government employees including police personnel, healthcare workers, and teachers would have transfer postings restricted to within 70 km of their home cadre to ensure work life balance and efficiency.
Earlier, Yadav took a jibe at the NDA manifesto, calling it a ‘sorry patra’ and accusing the alliance of making hollow promises. “The NDA’s manifesto is nothing but a jumla. People of Bihar have recognised their ‘chaal charitra’,” he remarked, also criticising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s silence, suggesting he was “not being allowed to speak.”
In contrast, the NDA’s 24 point vision document released by CM Nitish Kumar, BJP national president JP Nadda, and other alliance leaders focuses on job creation, EBC empowerment, and industrial growth. The ruling alliance has pledged one crore jobs, mega skill centres in every district, and the establishment of industrial parks and factories across Bihar in the next five years.
With both alliances unveiling competing visions for Bihar’s future, the political battle ahead promises to be a high-stakes contest centred on employment, agriculture, and women’s welfare.
