Tamil Nadu, Mar 17 : The Tamil rural comedy drama Thaai Kizhavi, starring Radhikaa Sarathkumar, continues its impressive theatrical run, inching closer to the ₹60 crore mark in India after 18 days. Released on February 27, the film has sustained strong footfall, aided by a strategic window free from major box office clashes.
According to trade estimates, the film has amassed approximately ₹59.85 crore domestically so far, while its worldwide earnings have crossed ₹70 crore. It recovered its modest budget of around ₹9–10 crore within the first few days of release.
The opening week contributed over ₹23 crore, followed by nearly ₹19 crore in the second week, taking the cumulative total past ₹42 crore. The film maintained momentum into its third week, with weekend collections boosting numbers before a typical weekday slowdown, including around ₹56 lakh on day 18.
Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, the film has resonated with audiences, earning praise as a wholesome family entertainer. Viewers have particularly lauded Sarathkumar’s powerful performance, along with the film’s blend of humour in the first half and emotional storytelling in the latter part.
The supporting cast includes Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, and Ilavarasu. Music is composed by Nivas K Prasanna, with cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar and editing by San Lokesh.
With steady collections and strong word-of-mouth, the film is poised to cross the ₹60 crore milestone in the coming days.
