‘The Housemaid’ India Release Date Confirmed: Sydney Sweeney-Amanda Seyfried Thriller Coming Soon

Psychological thriller based on Freida McFadden’s novel promises suspense, hidden motives, and a chilling domestic story

Sydney, Dec 09 : Fans of psychological thrillers can mark their calendars: ‘The Housemaid’, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, is set to release in Indian theatres on January 2, 2026.

Based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, the film follows Millie Calloway (Sydney Sweeney), a young woman who takes a housekeeping job at the opulent yet unsettling Winchester home. What seems like a dream job quickly turns into a tense psychological game, trapping Millie between loyalty, fear, survival, and truth as she uncovers the family’s hidden secrets.

Amanda Seyfried plays Nina Winchester, the enigmatic woman who hires Millie. This marks the first on-screen collaboration between Seyfried and Sweeney, adding an extra layer of anticipation for audiences.

Supporting cast members heighten the suspense: Brandon Sklenar as Andrew Winchester, whose calm facade hints at darker truths; Michele Morrone as Enzo, the perceptive groundskeeper; and Elizabeth Perkins as the intimidating matriarch, Evelyn Winchester.

Directed by Paul Feig, known for his versatility, the film represents a bold shift into psychological thriller territory. The screenplay is written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, and the music, composed by Theodore Shapiro, marks his seventh collaboration with Feig, delivering an unsettling score to match the story’s tension.

Production began in January 2025 in New Jersey, wrapping two months later. Executive producers include Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, Sweeney, and Seyfried themselves.

PVRINOX Pictures will release the film in India, promising audiences a domestic thriller filled with suspense, hidden motives, and creeping psychological tension.
