‘The Kerala Story 2’ Box Office Day 4: Film Slows Down, Collects ₹12.8 Crore

Controversial sequel records slowdown after modest opening weekend

Mumbai, Mar 03 : The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond hit theatres after receiving clearance from the Kerala High Court, but its early box office trajectory has been comparatively muted. Following a fair weekend performance, the film experienced a noticeable dip on its first Monday, taking its four-day domestic total to ₹12.8 crore net, according to early trade estimates.

The sequel generated over ₹10 crore during its opening weekend but failed to sustain the momentum into the weekday. After collecting ₹0.75 crore on its opening day, earnings climbed to ₹4.65 crore on Day 2 and ₹4.75 crore on Day 3. However, collections fell to ₹2.65 crore on Monday, reflecting a drop in footfall. The film’s gross earnings currently stand at ₹15.1 crore in India.

Occupancy figures further indicate the slowdown. On Monday, the Hindi version recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 8.75 percent, a decline that typically signals reduced audience engagement after the initial release rush.

Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, Aishwarya Ojha, Sumit Gahlawat and Arjan Singh Aujla in key roles.

The project faced legal scrutiny prior to release over concerns of alleged misrepresentation and potential communal tensions. A temporary stay by a single-judge bench was later lifted by a division bench, clearing the way for its theatrical debut after certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.

With weekday collections tapering off, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether the film can regain momentum at the box office.
