UP, Oct 28 : A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district claimed the lives of three members of a family, including a woman, her daughter in law, and her young grandson, early Tuesday. The victims were on their way to perform Chhath Puja rituals when a speeding truck ran them over near Panchfedwa village.
The deceased were identified as Kumari Devi (45), her daughter in law Chandni Devi (30), and grandson Saurabh Kumar (7), all residents of Rewsa-Panchfedwa village. The collision was so severe that all three died on the spot.
A heart wrenching scene unfolded as a grieving relative was seen holding the bodies of the victims, drawing a large, emotional crowd from the village. The situation soon turned chaotic, with locals expressing anger over reckless driving and lack of safety measures.
Circle Officer (CO) Krishan Murari Sharma rushed to the spot along with police personnel to pacify the crowd. Authorities confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the absconding driver.
The fatal crash occurred on National Highway 19 near Panchfedwa village under Alinagar police station limits. Police have seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the incident.
