Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Forecast in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry; Fishermen Advised to Stay Ashore

Chennai, Oct 1: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from Wednesday, warning fishermen against venturing into the sea due to rough weather conditions.

A cyclonic circulation over the northern Andaman Sea is expected to develop into a low-pressure system over the central Bay of Bengal on Wednesday. The system is likely to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area by October 2 and move towards southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh, with landfall projected around October 3.

In Chennai, skies will remain partly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Maximum temperatures are expected at 34–35°C, while minimum temperatures may hover around 26–27°C.
