TN CM Stalin Criticises PM Modi Over Alleged LPG Crisis Mismanagement

Tamil Nadu CM raises concerns on fuel supply, evacuation plans and energy security amid West Asia tensions

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday criticised the Centre over what he termed inadequate preparedness in ensuring LPG availability, asserting that crisis management cannot be shifted onto citizens.

Reacting to remarks urging the public to be ready for potential fallout from the ongoing West Asia conflict, Stalin questioned the role of leadership in handling such situations. He said it was the responsibility of the Union government to ensure readiness, not the burden of the people.

In a statement, the Chief Minister pointed out that he had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent measures to guarantee uninterrupted supply of LPG for domestic, commercial and industrial use in the state.

He also highlighted concerns regarding the safety of Indian nationals in the conflict-hit region, calling for coordinated evacuation efforts, faster transit visa processing and additional flights to bring back stranded citizens.

Further, Stalin urged the Centre to review its natural gas allocation policy to power plants, stressing the need for adequate fuel supply to meet rising electricity demand during the upcoming summer season.

The remarks come amid growing concerns over energy security and supply disruptions as geopolitical tensions continue to impact global fuel markets.
