Tom Holland Sustains Concussion on ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Set; Filming Temporarily Halted

Actor to take precautionary rest after mild injury; Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios review production schedule.

GLASGOW, Sept 22: Hollywood star Tom Holland, reprising his role as Spider-Man, sustained a mild concussion while filming ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, prompting a temporary pause in production. The incident reportedly occurred last week, but the injury is not serious. Doctors have advised Holland to rest for a few days before returning to the set. No other cast or crew members were injured.

Sony Pictures, co-producing the film with Marvel Studios, is set to review the situation and adjust the production schedule accordingly. The movie, which began filming in early August in Glasgow, Scotland, is slated for a worldwide release on July 31, 2026, and has already generated significant anticipation among fans.

Holland, returning to the role after a three-year break since ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021), expressed excitement about filming his fourth Spider-Man movie. He was joined by long-time co-stars Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned), along with new additions Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colon-Zayas. Iconic characters like Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion are also making appearances.

In a recent interview, Holland shared a fun fact about his superhero gear: he typically receives a new Spider-Man suit every two weeks during filming, although he did not specify the reason for the frequent replacements.
