JAMMU, June 14: DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony expressed his disappointment against the present LG Administration in Jammu and Kashmir for sidelining local officers of the JKAS (Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service) and JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service) for high-ranking positions such as SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) and Deputy Commissioners.
In a statement issued here today, Tony emphasized that it is crucial for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to recognize that their highly capable children have been overlooked by the present corrupt regime. He voiced his concern over the blatant neglect of local officers who are qualified and competent to serve in higher positions.
“IAS and IPS officers lobbies are enjoying the plum postings in the Union Territory by sidelining the much more local competitive JKAS & JKPS officers,” he added.
Tony highlighted the unfortunate sidelining of minorities in both the police and civil administration. He pointed out that in the present scenario, it is rare to find local officers from JKAS or JKPS occupying senior posts. Additionally, he highlighted the underrepresentation of minor minorities in the JKAS and JKPS services, adding to the need for fair and inclusive recruitment practices.
Tony appealed to the Union Home Minister to prioritize and address this pressing matter. He urged the Central Government to give due attention to the concerns raised, especially as Union Ministers frequently visit the region to address local issues. It is imperative that these significant issues are addressed seriously and rectified to ensure a fair and transparent administration in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
The senior political leader underlined the importance of upholding meritocracy and ensuring equal opportunities for deserving local officers. By rectifying the present situation, the administration can foster an environment that encourages the growth and success of talented individuals, thereby benefiting the overall development and governance of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
