JAMMU, May 11: Taranjit Singh Tony, Chairman Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and DDC Member Suchetgarh today sought thorough probe by CBI into the red flags raised by the statutory auditors of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the employee stock purchase scheme (ESPS).
In a statement issued here today, Tony said that the statutory auditors of Jammu and Kashmir Bank had issued a qualified opinion on the lender’s accounts for the financial year 2022-23 which means that financials are fairly represented but with the exception of a certain area. He described the objection raised by the auditors in J&K Bank as a tip of the iceberg, adding that many more skeletons would tumble down the cupboard once a detailed probe would be conducted into all fishy transactions executed by the bank.
He said that the said bank had been used as a cash cow by the present government and their corrupt leadership thereby swelling their fortunes at the cost of the public funds and selective targeting of a few business houses while granting immunity to some top politicians belonging to the party in majority.
The senior AAP leader accused the BJP led government at the centre of miserably failing to curb corruption rather he accused the centre of promoting a culture of patronizing corruption in the aforesaid Bank. He alleged that rumours with regard to alleged loan defaults by some of the top leaders of party in majority also required to be probed and the government should come clear on the fact that these defaulters have been given sops but at the same time others involved in similar cases have been dealt with irons hands. He said that the loan defaulting case of J&K Bank’s Residency Road Branch has not been resolved till date in which top leaders of BJP are involved.
Tony said that discrimination of such an extent is another proof of BJP leadership indulging in rampant corruption by misusing the power and position which the people have given to eradicate the same.
