SUCHETGARH, SEP 16: Taranjit Singh Tony, Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, has strongly criticized the government for the prolonged delay in completing the crucial road project from Octroi to RS Pura. Expressing deep concern over the prolonged delay in the completion of the road from Octroi to RS Pura, Tony emphasized that while the government has been vocal about development in its slogans, the ground reality paints a starkly different picture of poor progress.
Tony made these remarks while interacting with media persons after inaugurating the blacktopping work of road in Basti Gulabgarh village at Zero Line on Indian Territory. Prominent among those who were present include Rocky Chodhary, Sarvan Choudhary and Ramesh Billa.
Highlighting the grave issue, Tony pointed out that nearly 4,000 to 5,000 people visit Octroi Post Suchetgarh every Saturday and Sunday. He lamented that the slow pace of road construction leaves a negative impression of the government’s commitment to development, describing it as a matter of shame for the government and concerned department.
The Congress leader stressed that it has been approximately two and a half years since the four-laning project was initiated from Octroi to RS Pura. With the onset of the rainy season, the road has become riddled with potholes, which not only pose inconveniences but also present an unfavorable image to those visiting Suchetgarh.
Tony appealed to the Commissioner Secretary of the Public Works Department (PWD) to intervene and direct the Chief Engineer and concerned officials/contractors to expedite the construction of the border tourism road.
Additionally, Tony mentioned that another road project from Basti Gulabgarh to Octroi Post was initiated, further underlining the need for timely completion of these crucial infrastructure projects for the benefit of the local community and tourists.
He urged the government to prioritize the timely completion of these essential road projects and ensure that the promises of development translate into tangible improvements for the people of the region.
