JAMMU, AUG 22: Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony today strongly condemned lathi charge and detaining of peacefully protesting Yuva Rajput Sabha and various social organizations members at the Sarore toll plaza.

Speaking at a joining program held today, Tony raised serious concern over the use of excessive force against nonviolent demonstrators and criticized the administration’s handling of the situation.

Tony emphasized that Yuva Rajput Sabha is not a political entity, and thus, the administration’s harsh treatment of its members during the protest is unwarranted. Drawing parallels to the unity witnessed during the demand for the Maha Hari Singh holiday, Tony underscored the importance of people standing united to voice their genuine concerns effectively.

Addressing the toll plaza issue, Tony criticized the BJP’s lack of concrete action despite their ostentatious gestures, suggesting that the administration’s approach towards the removal of the toll plaza lacks substance. He accused the LG-led Administration of diverting attention from the core issue by focusing on smart meters amidst the ongoing agitation.

Expressing strong opposition to both the toll plaza and the installation of smart meters, Tony called for continued resistance against these measures. He insisted that the existing meters should be allowed to remain in operation, cautioning against the burden these decisions place on the common man as the government seeks to recover its transmission losses.

Tony reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to stopping the alleged exploitation by the present dispensation and called on the people to unite and compel the government to address their legitimate demands.

Earlier, Tony welcomed Happy Choudhary and his supporters into the Congress party at his office in Jammu. Encouraging them to contribute to the party’s growth and strength, he urged their efforts to bolster its foundation.

The joining program was organized by Mandeep Choudhary and Bitta Choudhary.
