SRINAGAR, Apr 1: One militant was killed during a night-long encounter in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The operation began late Tuesday after security forces received specific intelligence inputs about suspicious movement in the Arhama area. Acting on the information, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
According to officials, alert troops noticed unusual activity during the search. When challenged, the hiding militant opened fire, prompting immediate retaliation from the security forces.
The Army stated that the operation was tactically adjusted amid intermittent firing, with troops maintaining a controlled and precise response. This led to the neutralisation of one militant during the exchange.
Authorities added that the anti-terror operation is still ongoing, with forces continuing search efforts in the area to ensure complete clearance.
